Can't say this will work for everybody, but it will work for some. The best way to break a nasty habit, such as clenching/grinding is to create a new habit, that prohibits the old habit. The habit I have in mind is mouth breathing, while you sleep. If you can train your body to do this at night, clenching/grinding is impossible, and should diminish over time. To ensure mouth breathing wins the battle, obstruct your nasal passages, before bed. You can do this with a nose plug, or tape. I find that Rexall cloth tape works best, it's flexible, soft, and, stays put. Partially nasal obstruction may work to, if your not convertible with full. Stay tuned for updates on the matter. I myself am a fellow TMJ/Bruxism suffer, and vow to end it one way, or another. After all, quilty of life is at stake here. Day 1- Works like a charm. No clenching what so ever. Day 5- My body tends to remove the tape, while I'm asleep. I hope other people have better luck. Now onto plan B... Plan B didn't work either. >_> Now onto plan C, magnesium spray... (Supposedly it has a calming effect.) And hypnosis. (I don't how effective it is on the web.) What this guy is doing seems more like a relaxation technique, which isn't a bad thing, but I need a way to break the habit of clenching all together. This lady seems to be onto something. The trouble is, I don't think her method works for me.
