This person's story gives me hope.
I joined this group to share what has worked for me!! I already posted a reply to someone but wanted to share this with everyone.
I am just so happy over what I have found works for me that I searched for a group I could join so I could share my success. It was hard for me too because I am not very good on the computer but it's very important to me that people know what might be the cause for them.
I have been bruxing since I was young...only found out when I got married and my husband told me. It's 30 years later and I just got relief after ruining my jaw, breaking a tooth of in the bone, and jaw pain and tooth sensitivity abd sleep deprivation.
I constantly read and somewhere I read an article and looked at a diagram of the airway (which I will try to send) that bruxism can be caused by an overbite and/or weak receded chin because when you lie down the chin goes backward and closes off your airway. You brux to keep the airway open! I have a slight overbite and receded chin and I do know that once in awhile I will bolt upright in bed with a gasp. I thought it was just a dream or something but when I read this I thought maybe I have sleep apnea. I thought about going for a sleep test but decided to sit up in a lounge chair to sleep. Although I didn't sleep that well because I was out of bed, I did not brux! The next night I added a wedge pillow to the bed plus a long king siz pillow to the top and another pillow for under my head, making a steep 45 degree angle and I sleep like a baby....no grinding (I didn't even wear my mouth guard, no drinking water, no getting up to go to the bathroom....haven't grinded or clenched since!! I have tried a million remedies including well butrin, stuffing my nose up with tissue, multiple mouthguards, muscle relaxers, sleep medication...this is the only thing that worked immediately, 100 percent. I am now going to get an adjustable bed so I can sleep upright. It works...I hope I can help others. If you know where else I should post my message to this forum please let me know. I am not familiar with groups.
I do hope this works for others. I never thought I would get over this so I know how everyone feels.
Please try this and pass the info on. It may not be the answer for everyone but it definitley worked for me! Thanks!
